Dream Voyager is more than just a charter boat; it’s an opulent hotel on water, one that floats through some of the most picturesque and surf rich waters on the planet – the Maldivian Atolls.
About Dream Voyager
The Maldives is more than just your average surf destination, and this is more than your standard surf charter. This paradisiac chain of islands and atolls are one of the most beautiful and sought after holiday destinations on the planet, and a visit to this idyllic Indian Ocean arcadia is all about doing it in style.
Dream Voyager has got this covered. A classic but luxurious two-mast, five-stay sail schooner that’s sure to have any boat lover in raptures, this beautiful craft was designed to offer guests impeccable accommodation, service and amenities ensuring an unparalleled sense of comfort.
Dream Voyager also had a stunning makeover completed in 2009, which included the addition of a lavish teak wood decking, sun loungers, and a genius sun awning that allows guests to stay shaded and cool on deck while taking in the stunning surrounds, or watching the waves peel off post-session, drink in hand.
So, luxury – check! But what about the waves?
Dream Voyager’s charters usually include a stop at many of the Maldives’ classic breaks including Jailbreaks, Honkeys, Sultans, Cokes, Chickens and Gurus.
That’s the beauty of a charter in the Maldives, instead of being restricted to a handful of waves, the whole playing field is open for you to explore.

Let’s face it, you’re on a charter boat for one reason above all others, and that is to surf. So let’s break it down.
The general surf season in the Maldives can be considered as being from February to November. This is when swells generated by low-pressure systems in the southern Indian Ocean roll into the region.
This can further be broken down into three mini seasons. The best winds can be expected during March, April and May. June, July and August are when bigger swells begin hitting the Maldives and while September and October can get big swell, the winds during this time of year are known to become quite variable.
You can still pick up some small clean waves outside of this window (November to February), but it is a gamble, and you may end up getting skunked.
As previously mentioned, the waves you will be surfing on Dream Voyager include some of the best in the Maldives, and offer options for all abilities. These include:
Jails is named after the now defunct Jail which once operated on the Island off which the wave breaks. A right-hander, when it’s on, Jails offers one of the longest rides in the Maldives and can also dish up multiple tubes on the one wave.
Honkey’s is a high quality and interesting left. The wave breaks off the same island as Sultans, but heading in the opposite direction. Taking off out the back, the wave bends and refracts around the island as you ride, generally increasing in size as you do so, and offering some highly workable walls.
Sultans is one of the best waves in the Maldives. A right that begins with a behind-the-peak take off, either straight into the tube or as an entry point to a highly workable wall. It can also offer a second tube section on the inside and handles whatever swell the Indian Ocean can throw at it.
Named after a soft-drink factory located on the Island, Cokes is where you’ll get your barrel quota in the North Male atolls. Shallower than most of the waves, this right is one of the most hollow waves available, and is usually for experienced surfers only.
As you may have guessed, Chickens is named after the Chicken farm on the Island. It is also one of the most challenging waves on offer. A hollow left, Chickens can reward guests with a beautiful tube, however it is known as being highly tide dependent and can also catch you out of position easily.
Gurus is a fast and fun left which breaks on an open ocean reef. It can offer everything from tubes to high-performance sections. A great wave to utilize if you want to escape the crowds.
For the inexperienced surfer, boards are available to rent onboard and there is also a guide ready to help you on your way and ensure you’re on the right waves.
Guests will be served full board meals. Tables are laid on deck, as well as inside in comfortable and social surrounds. Breakfast is served as a buffet each morning, while lunch and dinner consist of five course set menus.
Tea and coffee are available throughout the day.
Dream Voyager’s bar is open until the last guest leaves the bar, and special sunset cocktail hour is from 6-7pm every evening.
