As one of the planet’s most consistent surfing regions, waves like Sultans, a mechanical right-hander or fun and whackable left-handers like Honky’s are plentiful. The ideal window for the best selection of waves is from mid-May to November where you can expect light offshore winds to stick around all day long.
Accommodation
The Blue Star offers 10 separate bedrooms, each with their own air-conditioner and spacious beds to ensure you’re well rested each night before you leap into another epic session. Each room is paired with its own bathroom and wardrobe so that you can choose to be a social or as private as you’d like while on board.
There is also a spacious living room with a dining table, comfortable sofas, TV, DVD, optional WIFI and completely equipped kitchen. A large terrace on the upper deck where the covers of the surfboards are stored is the perfect place to view the waves.
Meals
Using a wide variety of fresh produce such as fruit and vegetables, the in-house chef will prepare three meals per day from Western classics such as burgers and fries to Asian curries, fresh seafood banquettes and some local Maldivian specialities. You’ll also have your pick at the range of snacks, beer, wine and other refreshments while on board the Blue Star to ensure hunger is kept at bay during your entire tr
Activities
If you’re not surfing, there is a range of ocean inspired equipment on board including snorkelling and fishing equipment. Local village trips via the white sandy beaches of the Atolls are also a popular choice. The Blue Stars’ terrace acts as an ideal late afternoon rendezvous for surfers to kick back with a beverage or two and watch the last of the famous Maldivian sunset dip into the ocean while your chef prepares a feast that will ensure any surfer a great night’s sleep.
Sustainability
While luxurious, sprawling and state of the art, the Blue Star is conscious of its footprint, environmental and economic responsibilities in the Maldives. The vessel and its crew take every measure to minimise impact on the environment by reducing waste and plastics, produces desalinated water and employs and trains local staff on the boat and at headquarters in Male.
Getting There
Once you’ve arrived at Valana International Airport in Male, the main international airport in the Maldives, you will be greeted by a Anorlan staff member for the short journey to the boat. It is located on Hulhule Island in the North Male Atoll, near the capital island Male.
