Experience a new wilderness surf adventure to the remote shores of Fiordland in New Zealand.
About Awarua Guides
Awarua is like no other surf experience you have had before. With quality uncrowded waves, moderate water temperature, an abundance of wilderness and exploration makes this trip a true surfing adventure. Your journey commences in NZ’s adventure capital, Queenstown, where you will fly out through the dramatic snow-capped Southern Alps, along wilderness coastlines to land on the beach, or in front of the remote heritage home. This a short stroll from some amazing quality waves.
The rugged landscape has drawn a handful of pioneering families to its remote shores through the 60’s to 80’s and the Mitchell family who run Awarua have managed to maintain a presence and livelihood in the region till today. You will get to experience life in the frontier country, four days walk from the nearest road. The home setting must have everything flown in, generators, tractor, quad bike, plus the lumber, and add all this up, and you have a true wilderness homestead.
